Length: Full Year Class Period: Wednesday, eCHAT Period 3 (11:30 a.m.- 12:15 p.m.)

Description:  This class is excellent preparation for upper level Spanish 1. Students will explore communicating in Spanish through singing songs, vocabulary memory work, playing games, dialoguing with classmates, and writing. Students will review daily at home on quizlet, and they will create their own learning journal including the weekly lessons. On the last day of each semester, students can bring food and games for our class fiesta!

Tutor: Abbie Stewart has a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from North Central University with a double minor in Business Administration and Christian Studies. Her love for music started growing at the same time as her language-learning journey. During her sixth grade year, her family took a year-long trip overseas, spending 11 months in Luque, Paraguay. She attended an all-Spanish-speaking school where she was fully immersed in the language. After a challenging few months, it all started to click and was speaking fluently without having any prior Spanish knowledge. When her family returned to the United States, she continued her Spanish education through advanced Spanish classes in middle school and high school, finishing with College in the Schools Spanish 5 and 6 through the University of Minnesota in her junior and senior years. She hopes that her students, who are the same age as she was when she started learning Spanish, would fall in love with the language and culture as she did. In her free time, she enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, songwriting, and serving on the worship team at church alongside her husband, Thomas.
